Cody might not be ready for start of camp

Ravens nose tackle Terrence Cody said he’s feeling better, and hopes to be ready for the start of the regular season.

The start of training camp is another question.

Cody told Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun that his recovery from hip surgery was going well, but that he wasn’t sure he’d open camp 100 percent.

“I don’t know yet,” Cody said. “We’ll know once it gets closer to camp time, but I think I’m going to take my time, though.”

Cody’s play dipped last year, and was replaced in the starting lineup by veteran Maake Kemoeatu. But an elbow injury was a factor in that as well.

Either way, the Ravens aren’t going to wait around on Cody, as they brought in free agents Chris Canty and Marcus Spears to boltser the defensive front, and drafted Brandon Williams in the third round to add depth inside.

Ravens are stacked, packed, and ready to rip through that Steelers daisy chain. Roethlisbooger should dust off his little crybaby speech that he gave to Mr. Looney after the Green Bay SB beatdown. I’m sure his excuses haven’t changed.

It’s not a problem. Really! This is your last season here if you make the team. Don’t be surprised if you’re offered waived and offered an injury settlement this summer. You’re being replaced anyway. NFL: Not For Long. Next Man Up!

Injury or not, too many players avoid training camp. Some are legit but many are “scheduled” that way. Guys used to get surgeries out of the way soon after the season so that “next year” is not affected. Not so much anymore.

  4. bigboysmash says: Jul 8, 2013 2:54 PM

Ozzie doesnt miss often but this guy was a wasted second round pick.

  5. iknowwhatimtalkingabout says: Jul 8, 2013 2:57 PM

ravens are going to have top 3 rush defense and top 5 overall defense. I’m hoping we repeat but its a new look franchise so you never know

  6. psuorioles says: Jul 8, 2013 3:04 PM

Agreed with BigBoySmash… Cody is a waste of space and the DLine will be much better without him…

What’s this story, got to do with the Steelers, It’s a story about a 2nd round bust!

  8. crownofthehelmet says: Jul 8, 2013 3:11 PM

The last article was about Pierce showing up overweight and outta shape, and now Cody’s so large his hip can’t support his own body weight.

Instead of Lombardi trophies for everyone, JH should have bought them gym memberships and Jenny Craig meals.

  9. ahostiletakeover says: Jul 8, 2013 3:21 PM

Don’t forget 3rd pick Brandon Williams. Kid has the mentality, physical tools, and veteran guidance to be a big part of that Ravens d-line this year.

It’s ok, Cody might not be on a team to be ready for.

  13. watermelon1 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:45 PM

Anything the ravens can get from Cody is just a
Bonus. This is less a factor than anything else that’s happened for them in the offseason.

In fact, it’s really probably a non-factor completely. Unless you count the body to waste snaps on on camp. But that’s not making the offensive guys any better.

  14. watermelon1 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:47 PM

With Suggs, Ngata, and Dumervil… It really doesn’t matter who else lines up with them. Those three should be plenty to deal with!

crownofhelmet how would a gym membership help BP if he gained 10 lbs of muscle? you sound ridiculously ignorant

I think I agree with you hostile, sounds like a perfect fit:

mentality – not the sharpest tool in the shed
physical tools – weak and overrated
veteran guidance – translation: hand-holding needed

  17. tacowrecker says: Jul 8, 2013 3:58 PM

Reading between the lines a bit, sounds to me like Cody wouldn’t be at all disappointed were he to miss a good portion of training camp. Agree with what others have said: The guy’s just a total bust. Being gigantic was enough in college but you actually have to TRY in the NFL. Maybe he should try Professional Eating instead. Bet he could pound the hotdogs

  18. SAV says: Jul 8, 2013 4:01 PM

Solid gamble on the inside space eater, little did we know he’d never stop until he ate outter space…cant hit on them all.

Brandon Williams will supplant Terrence Cody as the Ravens’ starting nose tackle.

What does this have to do with the topic? Oh, I got it your typical steeler bashing. So unique and original. T

I thought the topic was Cody and his hip but some how it drifted to the steelers. I guess you really have it bad for the steelers. We love your attention keep it up it bolsters our confidence.

0 0 I know you are the person complaining about others attacking others for their comments and now you post this? Oh I got it…Raven Rules do as I say not as I do.

4life I bet you waited till some one turned their back before throwing a snowball at them and then running home to mama as fast you could.

  24. xinellum says: Jul 8, 2013 4:51 PM

Cody has not lived up to billing. Losing his job last year to a person who was out of the league the year before shows how deep the Ravens had to sink to get someone to replaces him and you saw how he produced. He went from Mount Cody to Speedbump Cody and continues to decline. Last year of his contract and unless he comes out in pro bowl shape, he will have a new home next year.

LOL!!! You can tell when someone feels inferior to another when they constantly bring up the other subjects name without warrant! I love the post from jmf! Pure comedy. Keep it coming jmf!! your envy when it comes to The Mighty Black & Gold is priceless.

    Go Steelers!!

Ravens fans tend to idolize Ozzie on this web site but he’s not draft-perfect, and the play of this lard-ass is People’s Exhibit # 1. Taken together with fellow 2010 2nd round clunker Sergio Kindle (of falling down the stairs fame), you have the Daily Double of Draft Busts.

That said, Newsome did save his butt in rounds 3-5 with the selections of Ed Dickson, Dennis Pitta, and Arthur Jones, who have rounded nicely into everyday players.

  27. darkglobe1 says: Jul 8, 2013 8:20 PM

Another draft bust in what is becoming a fairly regular occurrence in Baltimore.

Lots of Steeler trolls coming on here complaining that the comments are not specifically directed at the condition of Cody’s hip. Well, this is a post about the Ravens’ defense which is going to tear the Steelers apart this year and flatten Roethlisbooger like a pancake. If the Steeler trolls don’t like it, they need to go over to their own boards where Roethlisbooger continues to suck up to Looney for helping him hush up that sex scandal.

  29. steelerben says: Jul 9, 2013 10:43 AM

Mt. Cody has flashed some serious talent but hasn’t been able to get it together and be consistent. Health and conditioning certainly play a role in all that. If the Ravens do decide to cut ties with him, then another team might just have a gem in him, assuming they get him polished up. Someone just needs to light a fire under him. I’d imagine the Saints would love to pick him up on the cheap.

I’m not sure why Ravens fans are bashing this kid so hard, he’s been less than billed but it isn’t like he was Vernon Gholston or anything.

So funny that the lead Raven troll who strays off topic constantly yet feels he can tell others to stay on topic . But hey that is the trolls way..not as I do just do as I say. Pretty mature……not yet.
