Field of Jeans finds yet another revenue stream

Bricks

When it comes to milking every last potential dollar from a football stadium, the 49ers are authoring the textbook.

The latest chapter for the so-called Field of Jeans comes from the ability of fans to buy bricks with their names on them.

It’s hardly a new concept, but it’s yet another way to help pay for a billion-dollar facility.

Multiple options are available for the bricks to be placed in the plaza at Levi’s Stadium. For the gold bands of bricks outside the team’s logo, bricks can be had for $195, $345, and $395. Inside the logo, the numbers go to $265, $495, and $545.

In a free and open market, people can spend their money however they want, and people can try to make money however they choose. (Respecting, of course, all applicable federal, state, and local laws.) So if someone wants to plunk down $545 for a eight-inch-by-eight-inch brick with a personalized message, so be it.

Maybe quarterback Colin Kaepernick will buy one with the message, “Go Dolphins!”

Actually, maybe we’ll buy one that says, “Colin Kaepernick says ‘Go Dolphins!’”
