Rex Ryan spotted at running of the bulls

x350-15 AP

Few in the NFL have been better at slinging the bull than Rex Ryan.

So running with them seems like a natural extension of the theme.

Via Cindy Boren of the Washington Post, several social media postings placed the Jets coach at the Fiesta de San Fermin in Pamplona, Spain for the annual running of the bulls. One shot featured Ryan wearing a bright red T-shirt bearing the phrase “Bad Toro.”

Considering all the grief Ryan took last offseason when he was just trying to mind his own business relaxing by the pool, it seems a reasonable time to change vacation plans.

And while I’d be more worried about the horns, since he’s the coach of the Jets, you also have to wonder whether he was able to avoid running into the backside of the giant beasts.

Fun fact: it wasn’t the running of the bulls, it was the running of the Ryans.

  2. sanders8920 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:01 PM

Someone told him there would be thousands of feet to look at…now he’s sad they turned out to be hoof’s.

  3. alewatcher says: Jul 8, 2013 3:03 PM

His next stop is rumored to be the Running of the Mouth.

  4. raiderssf says: Jul 8, 2013 3:05 PM

Good for Rex Ryan. I know its not politically correct nor is it really smart, but the Running of the Bulls has to be the craziest event/party I ever went to. If you are single and like to drink Sangria, I highly recommend adding it of things to do before you get married.

  5. packerman1968 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:05 PM

Maybe he has a hoof fetish.

  6. crownofthehelmet says: Jul 8, 2013 3:05 PM

If Ryan was able to participate, it must now be the walking of the bulls.

  7. beerbudsnbevo says: Jul 8, 2013 3:05 PM

The only human at the running that was bigger than the bulls….

  8. urmomsmyho says: Jul 8, 2013 3:06 PM

I think if Rex went to meditate in a cave in Tibet somehow he’d still be spotted

  9. BigBeachBall says: Jul 8, 2013 3:07 PM

Its the rex ryan show… Starring Rex Ryan….

  10. richkotitte says: Jul 8, 2013 3:07 PM

Let’s make Rex the butt of any bad jokes. That would be a bunch of bull!

He’s just trying to motivate himself …by taking the bull by the horns…

  11. ctiggs says: Jul 8, 2013 3:07 PM

He thought it was free steak night.

  12. milesrunner262 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:11 PM

Did he have a knife and fork? The bulls were probably running from HIM!!

  13. fc187 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:12 PM

So many come backs, so little space to write them.

  14. twilson962 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:12 PM

    He likes the hooves.

  15. bucrightoff says: Jul 8, 2013 3:12 PM

The guy talks so much bullcrap it all makes sense now.

    Bull Ship

  17. sourceformerlyknownasunnamed says: Jul 8, 2013 3:15 PM

Everybody knows that bulls are known for their amazing footwork. Rex Ryan, being a man of tremendous detail, needed to see this first hand.

  18. cajunaise says: Jul 8, 2013 3:15 PM

Nothing pleases the fan base of an underperforming team more than a coach who acts like a carefree clown that’s won the Super Bowl for the past three years…

  19. joelvis72 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:16 PM

I hope the bulls are okay.

He’s just practicing for when he get’s run out of town by an angry mob of New Yorkers.

What’s worse, bulls or New Yorkers….?

This might just be the warm up for the main event for him….

  21. dontasemebro says: Jul 8, 2013 3:17 PM

Easy to spot him. He’s the only guy running behind the bulls with a steak knife & fork in hand, wearing a bib.

    Bull But Fumble!

  23. djcologne says: Jul 8, 2013 3:20 PM

I would love to see highlights of Ryan getting trampled!

  24. descendency says: Jul 8, 2013 3:20 PM

    Rex Ryan, Running, Bulls…

Why does that not surprise me?

  25. patriots123456 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:21 PM

He going to incorporate a new offensive play.

    The “horny bull butt fumble”.

  26. agelardi says: Jul 8, 2013 3:21 PM

Nothing new here, the Annual Rex Ryan Running of the Bulls**t.

  27. nickster31 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:21 PM

That is nothing compared to the New York media!

Are you sure it wasnt just his brother chasing him?

    No Rex, catch and release!

  28. heyguru1969 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:21 PM

He was the 3rd bull on the left. The one that ran headfirst into a wall, a la Gus Frerotte.

  29. kd75 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:25 PM

Did Rex take any of the runners out?

  30. thegreatgabbert says: Jul 8, 2013 3:26 PM

    Indulging his hoof fetish.

  31. thegreatgabbert says: Jul 8, 2013 3:29 PM

Luckily the bulls didn’t understand English when Rex implored them to “walk up and down on my naked back, big fella..”.

  32. raiderufan says: Jul 8, 2013 3:29 PM

Rex thought he was being taken to another press conference with Mark Sanchez saying he’s fixed his accuracy…

“Running with the bull?! Friggin Mark! He’s not naked again is he?!”

  33. rdrs68 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:31 PM

Rumor has it that he was brought in at the last minute to compensate for the unexplained constipation of the bulls-the event needs a certain amount of the product to be authentic and who is better at producing it than one of the Ryans.

  34. getyourownname says: Jul 8, 2013 3:32 PM

At least we’ll know what he’s thinking if he describes his new players as looking good on the hoof. At least, before he gets gored.

  35. j4man1 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:42 PM

There is no way his old and fat ass ran with the bulls!

  36. bubbybrister/shovelpass says: Jul 8, 2013 3:44 PM

This is the second vacation that Rex has been “spotted” on this year.
    I can’t wait. What are Tom Coughlin’s and Gus Bradley’s vacation plans…?

  37. uwsptke says: Jul 8, 2013 3:45 PM

And as soon as I started to read this article, “Bulls on Parade” plays on my radio.

  38. larry321 says: Jul 8, 2013 3:47 PM

Bottom line, gotta love the guy. At least he’s a real human being, unlike so many other NFL coaches watching video for 16 hours a day and unable to relate to other human beings like normal people.

Says the guy who just failed at an attempt of humor….

  42. tacowrecker says: Jul 8, 2013 4:17 PM

I do enjoy the fact that Rex doesn’t give interviews like he’s reading from a cue card and that he speaks his mind, unlike so many others in the NFL. He’s also one of the top 2 or 3 defensive minds in the NFL. Just wish he’d have a firmer hand on his team. The Jets are a 3-ring circus every year now and the distractions are making things even harder for what is now a talent poor team

  43. tformation says: Jul 8, 2013 4:18 PM

After dealing with the New York media, the owner, losing Revis and keeping Sanchez, running away from bulls trying to gore you to death must feel like a vacation.

    Have fun, Rex.

  44. pinion8ted says: Jul 8, 2013 4:22 PM

He’s thrown enough bull, why not run with some?

  45. whatjusthapped says: Jul 8, 2013 4:33 PM

Ryan is somewhat of an expert of the subject of bull, that’s all that comes out of his mouth.

How do you like your Superbowl chances this year, Rexy?

  46. bcgreg says: Jul 8, 2013 4:46 PM

That’s OK. In about 4 weeks, he’ll be in NY for training camp and interviews.

    The running of the bulls**t!

  47. 950003cups says: Jul 8, 2013 5:17 PM

He needed to find Vernon Gholston’s replacement.

  48. blackbug99 says: Jul 8, 2013 5:18 PM

Sanchez was following the herd which made them anxious to run that much faster!

  50. ebr362 says: Jul 8, 2013 5:44 PM

Give the guy a break, he’s enjoying himself on vacation. Gotta give him credit, I certainly have better things to do on my vacation than risk getting gored or trampled.

  51. orakpocalypse says: Jul 8, 2013 5:54 PM

I bet he just heard the word “running” and thought feet were involved. I’m sure he was disappointed when the bulls showed up.

Just glad i read it first on Yahoo sports By DENNIS WASZAK Jr. (AP Sports Writer) | The Associated Press.

He leaves out the boring self appointed attempt of humor.

  54. rick1k6 says: Jul 9, 2013 12:31 AM

Probably the only time the bulls got out of the way of a human being.

  55. steelerben says: Jul 9, 2013 10:53 AM

By all accounts, Rex Ryan is a man’s man. Running with the bulls is a man’s man kind of thing. Seems like a pretty solid fit.

I wonder if there were any g.d. snacks.

I’d be interested in the team you root for. Oops, that would take some backbone. Sorry I asked.

    @8to80

Curious as to who taught you your reading comprehension skills because I literally have no idea how you misconstrued that as an attempt at humor.
