Jaguars get Ace Sanders in the fold

The Jaguars have just one draft pick left to sign.

The agent for wide receiver Ace Sanders told Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun that his client has reached agreement on a four-year deal with the Jaguars, leaving only sixth-round safety Josh Evans unsigned among the Jaguars draft picks. There shouldn’t be much problem getting that deal done in time for the Jaguars to start camp with all hands on deck.

Sanders, who was taken in the fourth round with the 101st overall pick, is going to have a hard time being more than a slot receiver on offense for Jacksonville thanks to his size. At 5-foot-7 and 173 pounds, life as an outside receiver is likely beyond his grasp. The Jags can use an effective player in the slot to go with Cecil Shorts and Justin Blackmon, however, so Sanders should get a chance to earn playing time with the first time during camp.

He’ll also be a part of the special teams units with the Jaguars after returning three punts for touchdowns during his career at South Carolina.

    Those helmets are embarassing.

This guy plays bigger than 5’7. He’s thick and catches balls in traffic, puts two hands on it and takes hits. He won’t be on anyone’s fantasy team but he’ll keep drives alive and maybe slip one or two by the punt return team.

    Strictly a special teams Ace.

I have to agree, the helmet looks like a team from the MEAC conference.

The Jaguars have always felt that it is best not to put signing bonus money into the hands of a 21-year old kid until right before training camp…

Now they only need about 52 more good players.

I’m still waiting to read the headline that says we have a real QB in the fold.

And to think. The Colts lost at home to Blaine Gabbert and his crew last year.

Ace will prove to be a more explosive player than most realize. Just get him the ball and you will see….
