On Thursday, the Seahawks claimed a former member of the 49ers off of waivers. On Friday, the 49ers returned the favor.

The NFL announced Friday afternoon that the 49ers have made a successful waiver claim on wide receiver Charly Martin, who was waived by the Seahawks on Thursday to make room on the roster for long snapper Kyle Nelson. Nelson had previously been a member of the 49ers, which leaves the teams even should they be trying to glean information from former members of a division rival.

Martin had four catches for 42 yards in four games with the Seahawks last season. He played eight games for the Panthers in 2009 and 2010 and didn’t see any NFL action during the 2011 season.

There were reports this week that the 49ers remain interested in former Colts wide receiver Austin Collie, but that they wanted to see how things shook out with the players already on the roster before moving to sign him. It’s unclear what, if any, impact the addition of Martin would have on those plans.
