Mark Sanchez calls Web video a lesson of life in ‘spotlight’

On Friday, Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez addressed the viral Web video that showed him in a state of undress with good perspective and good humor.

Calling the video “a little embarrassing,” Sanchez told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News that he’s taken the whole event as a learning experience.

“It’s just a good reminder that you’re in the spotlight … and be ever watchful and careful of who you’re with, what you’re doing,” Sanchez said, per the Daily News.

Sanchez, who’s conducting his “Jets West” workouts this week in California, took another lesson from the video.

“I’ve got to work on my tan lines,” Sanchez joked to the Daily News.

For a heavily scrutinized player in a major media market in an era where the NFL is covered more closely than ever, it’s nice that Sanchez has kept his wit.

What else does he have to be proud of other than his wit? Pretty much all he has going for him at this point, well except the headband…

You can do anything you set your mind to. This weekend he will try to cover that tan line, this fall from week to week he will try to cover the better line.

What kind of lesson does he consider the “butt-fumble”?

  7. bennyb82 says: Jul 12, 2013 10:41 PM

It is only a lesson if he learns from it. Otherwise, it is a moment…

The rookie mistakes that Ron Jaworski says he continues to make are not limited to the field.

I do not know why so many people hate Mark. He may not be the best QB in the world, but that is no reason to hate him. He is a young man who is just having fun, in a way most of us wish we could. He is not accused of rape or other crimes that NFL players have been accused of. His play and any short comings in it will be judged by the team and corrected, or he will be cut at the end of the season. But these deficiencies are no reason to hate the man.

Worry less about your “tan lines” and more about actually being a QB there Mark. You also might want to take note that if it wasn’t for the salary you have the Jets would of outright released you. One of the very few times where the salary cap hit actually saved a player instead of making him a victim of it…

I don’t think anyone could take Sanchez seriously until he loses the freaking weird hair band.

honestly, good for Sanchez. Those girls were cute.

  15. gloryfromheaven says: Jul 13, 2013 12:08 AM

Sanchez, just promise us that you won’t come back to the NFL next year… Thank you

  16. fordmandalay says: Jul 13, 2013 12:09 AM

I’m glad that Sanchez is finally realizing he lives in a spotlight after being the starting QB for the Jets, and living in one of the worlds largest cities for the past 5 years with nonstop press coverage of his every move. Just imagine what he might learn tomorrow!

What wit? the guys a half wit. He knows he’s on the verge of losing his job, and he’s partying his ass off, but from his prospective, he knows he’s gone after this year, but he’ll walk away with 8.25 million, thanks to the village idiot Mike Tannenbaum.

  18. vtopa says: Jul 13, 2013 12:32 AM

this guy is such a second rate clown. Its hard to believe he’s getting paid millions to play football. Luckily for me, I hate the Jets.

  19. expertop says: Jul 13, 2013 1:01 AM

It’s true. He keeps his sense of humor and has a good attitude. He says all the right things. But he’s still terrible as an NFL quarterback.

  20. nfl4days says: Jul 13, 2013 1:42 AM

How many times are people gonna kick this man while hes down? Just leave him alon already. He seems like a pretty cool guy off the field, and while he may have been playing pretty badly, hes supporting cast has been useless. Who’s he throwing too? Handing the ball off too? Trusting to protect him? Trusting to stop the other team? Sanchez could be an alex smith type QB, but his supporting cast and coaches are pure garbage.

Really? Your just figuring this out at the age of 26?

  25. hehateme2 says: Jul 13, 2013 7:23 AM

He’s simply the butt of all jokes. Immature and irrelevant.

  31. waldoampere says: Jul 13, 2013 9:30 AM

He’s been an NFL starting QB, in New York no less, for four years and he’s just learning this lesson? No wonder he keeps making the same mistakes on the field over and over again.

  32. 4thqtrsaint says: Jul 13, 2013 10:26 AM

Really? Its a good reminder? You’ve been in the league what, 4 years now?

  33. blackhawks2010 says: Jul 13, 2013 11:21 AM

Nothing Sanchez says or does is newsworthy, especially on the field….

Are you telling us he offered to buy the whole team tickets to the game? That’s nice of him to do that!
