Panthers come in 25th in PFT preseason rankings

The Panthers are an intriguing mix of young and old, which makes them a little hard to figure.

They boast emerging stars such as Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly, productive veterans such as Steve Smith and a base of in-their-prime starters such as Charles Johnson, Ryan Kalil and Greg Olsen.

But for several reasons, they’ve underperformed in recent years, going 6-10 and 7-9, with late charges smearing deodorant over the stench of twin 2-8 starts.

There are enough parts in place that they could contend for a playoff spot, but enough could go wrong that doubts persist, which is why they’re 25th in our preseason power rankings.

You can read the full preview here, and then tell us whether we’ve ranked the Panthers appropriately in our poll below.

Nah, Newt will pile up enough garbage time stats after they’re eliminated from the playoffs to get the team close to .500 again.

Just another log on the fire boys. Keep sleeping on this team, please!

Don’t worry. We will keep on sleeping. With Cam Newton as their starting QB they will never win the games that matter.

Panthers are a strong up-and-coming team who outperformed their record last season. Will be difficult to make the playoffs in a stacked NFC but I think they’re more like the 15th best team than the 25th.

We beat the falcons (almost twice) and we swept the saints and finished second in the division last year.

We also only lost one game by more than one possession.

Between this and the Browns being worse than the jaguars and raiders, your list is a joke.

Listening to the panther homers attempt to take issue with this ranking is really pathetic. On what basis could you possibly argue they should be higher?
