If the Broncos are clear-cut AFC West favorites, then the Chiefs land the title of “team everyone’s going to say they picked to win the division” should Denver falter and Kansas City (finally) plays to its talent level. The Raiders? They’re rebuilding. I mean, that’s what it is, and that’s OK, for it has to be done.

So where does this leave the Chargers? Sort of in-between, right? The Chiefs are the chic sleeper, and the Raiders are the sort of sleeper you talk yourself into after staring at the depth chart for an hour.

To some, the Chargers -- who garner the No. 22 spot in PFT’s Preseason Power Rankings -- may seem like yesterday’s news. They have a good quarterback (Philip Rivers), but he turns 32 in December. Overall their roster has some solid pieces, but there are some holes, with the offensive line a primary worry.

It seems like it could go either way for San Diego. We’re a little pessimistic, but the Chargers still have a capable starting quarterback. Things could be worse.

Now, here’s your chance to tell us if we’ve properly placed the Chargers in our power rankings.
