Ex-NFL player arrested for leaving kid in car outside strip club

montygrow

If you’re looking for a babysitter, former NFL linebacker Monty Ray Grow probably isn’t the first guy you should call.

Grow, who played for the Chiefs and Jaguars in the 1990s, was arrested after authorities said he left a 3-year-old girl alone in a car while he went into a strip club in Clearwater, Florida. He was charged with child abuse and released on $5,000 bail.

Police say Grow went into the Diamond Dolls strip club and left the kid in the car. Police have not said what Grow’s relationship with the girl was.

Grow admitted leaving the child unattended, police say. The girl was not injured and her mother and grandparents arrived to collect her.

Not to stereotype, but doesn’t he look exactly like what you would expect a man who would leave a 3 year old in the car while he went into a strip club would? Goodell should find a way to punish him, even if he did retire 2 decades ago.

This dude is scum. The girl was left in car for more than 20 minutes. The mother was tracking this loser by his cell phone’s GPS… not sure why she even left the kid with him if she felt the need to track him. Must be a Mother of the Year candidate too…

    Another Gator in the news!

If the kid was his, I’m sure his wife will be real understanding and forgiving.

  22. lks311 says: Jul 15, 2013 9:07 PM

The question I would like addressed to the mom and grandparents is: Why in the BLEEP were you allowing THIS miscreant to be within ten miles of your little girl?! If you know him well enough to PLACE her with him, you clearly MUST know him well enough to realize he had NO business supervising your child. I truly hope CPS grills this mother!

It’s illegal to leave a child under the age of 12 in the car alone for an unreasonable time and no reasonable provision for the supervision and care of that child has taken place.

The correct question would be: how long was the child in the car?
