Seahawks fans want message in 49ers bricks

San Francisco 49ers v Seattle Seahawks Getty Images

When the 49ers opened a new revenue stream by selling personalized bricks outside Levi’s Stadium, they also opened the door for those who might want to make a statement in the pavement.

Now, a group of Seahawks fans is trying to figure out how to support their team outside the enemy camp.

According to SeattlePI.com, a group of Seahawks fans on Reddit are trying to raise funds to purchase a brick.

Their only problem is figuring out a way to get it past the censors, since the Levi’s Stadium Foundation can veto any text it wants.

The minimalists among them were hoping for “Go Hawks,” or perhaps something more subtle, such as “Great Ones Have Achieved Wisdom Knowing Success.”

If they really wanted to stir the 49ers faithful up, they could say something truly controversial, such as “Nice hat.”

Word is they may be allowed to get the bricks through, but they may be strategically placed throughout the stadium in certain male-only restrooms….

Can’t they just put a blank brick in to commemorate the accomplishments of the Seahawks franchise?

I see what you did there. Nice one. “Go Hawks”. That’s just fabulous. The only problem is when has Seattle ever been successful? Lol. Calm down Seahawks fans I’m just busting chops! I’d actually consider doing something similar if the roles were reversed…..if I was bored that is!

This is what a pathetic fan base dose when their loser of a team has never won anything of relevant (SB). First making a record for loudest crowd noise now sneaking a brick in a new stadium. What’s next LOSERS.????? Just Plain PATHETIC.!!!!!!

They’ve got a long way to go to overcome viking fans, but for a team that’s never won anything, Seahawk fans are rapidly becoming the 2nd-most obnoxious fan base out there.

  22. largent80 says: Jul 18, 2013 11:08 AM

This notion of ‘classless fans’ is nonsense for 31 of 32 teams. Because it is an easy and lazy argument to make. How do you define classless? If I say you’re classless, for the most part, it’s impossible for you to refute, and just as impossible for me to define.

The one exception is Philly. Their fans booed Santa Claus. Their fans cheered wildly when Michael Irvin was carried off the field on a stretcher. That seems pretty classless to me.

I’m a Hawks fan and the thought of “payoffs” is just stupid, it makes the all of us look like tools when some of us keep moaning about it nearly a decade later. Terrible calls absolutely, but our team did plenty to lose that game all on their own. Let’s move on.

Gee, it’s not as if the new stadium will be built smack in the middle of Silicon Valley or anything surrounded by people who create the internet and technology. Why is it that someone has to mention Santa Claus an Eagle fans here? That happened like 50 years ago! Get something different for God’s sake. First off Kap has swag and looked like the man last night at the espys! dude is young extremely talented, handsome and about to become very wealthy! Wouldnt you enjoy the spotlight and all the perks that come with being young rich and famous? i applaud him for not crossing the line and instead still working hard and improving on an exceptional year. Russel Wilson is good but dude isnt going to be a top passer or even a top rushing QB. Kap on the other hand has the arm to throw for 5,000 yds and the legs to rush for 1,000.

What these stories aren’t posting is, this,

the extra funds will be donated to the whoever the majority of donors (not donor-votes) want.

If we have extra funds, it should go to a charity.

That was my thought as well, either put to a vote, or let /r/49ers pick, w/e works

have we settled on this decision? i’ll toss in $20 right now but i wanna make sure we have a SET destination for the extra money, and my vote is for the Bryan Stow.

Since there will be extra $$$, best it stay in the Community.

    GoHawks

hey jimmywho14, sorry about the Santa Claus reference. For some reason I thought it was more like 1980s, turns out you’re right, it was 1968, that’s 45 years ago. My bad. In its place I’ll make a substitution from the world of baseball. Remember the Phillies fan in 2010 who intentionally threw up on the 11-yr-old daughter of an off-duty cop?

Because they have no reason to memorialize their own team and the 49ers have at least 5.

  44. seahawksteven777 says: Jul 18, 2013 6:44 PM

I’m hearing the same old, same old yet again. Seattle is a bunch of cheaters, they do PEDs, they haven’t won anything, etc.

1.) How does a few players from a whole team that test postive for PED’s reflect the whole team as cheaters? By that logic, the Redskins are cheaters, the Broncos, Giants, Colts, etc are as well as long as they have a few guys test positive. My point is it’s just stupid to use the “cheating” argument.

If they really were “cheating”, I’m pretty sure they would have beaten the Falcons and not have been down 20-0 also.

2.) The classic “We have superbowl wins and you don’t” argument. I’m sorry but what does how many superbowl wins have to do with the here and now? If I’m not mistaken, the 49ers haven’t won anything since 1994, nearly 20 years ago. So to brag about past accomplishments is a pointless argument considering it has no bearing on the here and now.

That’s like a racer saying that they won a lot of races when they were younger but they haven’t won anything since that. If you’re not winning superbowls in the here and now, I don’t really care what you did like 20 years ago.

  45. chexmix49 says: Jul 18, 2013 7:19 PM

I say, take their money and use the bricks to line the urinals in every male bathroom in the stadium so 49ers fans can adequately express their contempt for not only the Seahawks, but for every other team who would seek to irritate the Niner fan base!!! The beauty of this is that if opposing fans want to attend games in OUR stadium, they must relieve themselves on their beloved teams!! We get their money and they get the degradation.

  46. seattlelgt says: Jul 18, 2013 8:19 PM

Classless? It’s a prank. The 9ers and Hawks are rivals. Does anyone remember pulling high school pranks against rival schools? Stealing mascots? TP’ing school grounds? This is no different. It should be taken as a joke, not as offensive or classless. Find your sense of humor, people!

    ——————————————————–

    Honestly…..you can’t be this naive.

The PEDs instances are enough to speak for themselves. The coaches may not be promoting it….however Pete C. has a very established “turn the other way” coaching style going back to USC.

But this other one is classic. See the problem is that either way a Seahawk fan tries to negate what has been accomplished by the #49ers rather recently (as a reminder …..2012 NFC Champion and 2x NFC West Champion the last two years running) or 5 Super Bowl wins of which the last was in 1994……a Seahawk can’t use one evaluative means of marginalizing without minimizing what the Seahawks themselves have done.

To whit: a Seahawk fan will say “but what you have you done recently???” Have we won a Super Bowl? No. But we WERE just there and that means you have to at least be THE best team in the NFC to show up. Is that the ultimate prize? No. But it IS an accomplishment that is current and relevant.

Or we can just go to the ol’ faithful of the Seahawk fanbase which is trying to say how dominant the Seahawks were in the 2000’s winning 6 NFC West titles. Okay. Great. Which would place OUR back-to-back NFC West titles in the present time and would constitute “doing something”. Either way you cut the Seahawk history is a history of a couple good teams….none that are really all that memorable or will be remembered by anybody outside of Seattle.

And all those NFC West titles won previously by Seattle were done in a time when the NFC West was not only a historically impotent and pathetic division but was one of THE WORST divisions in SPORTS HISTORY for a period of time. So winning that division in that timeframe isn’t really an accomplishment but rather a consolation prize.

And either way you slice it……..there’s a whole lot more CURRENT hardware in the #49ers trophy case and PAST hardware in the same trophy case than what the Seahawks have. Period.

  48. hawkstradamus says: Jul 18, 2013 9:53 PM

So…the Seahawks fans want to help fund the 49ers new stadium and the Northern California local charities and this is a problem how? Heck, give em a discount on as many bricks as they want, I get a smile on my face knowing they want to give their money to their rivals’ facility. And when 9ers fan go walking through the stadium and see bricks that say “Go Hawks” and the like…bust up those bricks and A) replace them with blanks or other 9ers faithful messaged bricks or B) notify the Seahawk fan that bought the brick that it has been smashed and tell them they can replace it for another $500. I really don’t see the problem here…

I don’t understand the notion that a team has to win a ring to be able to talk smack with rivals.

If that was the standard, only one team a year would be allowed to razz rivals. Would make for a boring league.

    Enjoy the fun stuff, guys.
