Lions, DT Justin Bannan to meet

The Lions will host free agent defensive tackle Justin Bannan on Monday, Mike Klis of the Denver Post reported Friday.

Bannan, 34, made 15 starts for the Broncos in 2012, notching 42 tackles.

The Lions’ interest in Bannan makes sense, as new defensive line coach Jim Washburn likes to rotate linemen. Also, the Lions could perhaps use one more experienced tackle. In Detroit, Bannan would likely project as one of the top two interior linemen behind Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley.

Bannan (6-3, 312) is entering his 12th NFL season. He’s played for Buffalo (2002-2005), Baltimore (2006-2009), St. Louis (2011) and Denver (2010, 2012).

The Raiders are in real need of tackle depth. I’m surprised they haven’t signed an old vet minimum guy like Bannan.

I agree.he would really add depth to the d-line rotations.but perhaps we are going surprise with the current group.he’s solid for whom ever picks him up.

He would add depth but its to bad we can not find depth at linebacker or an upgrade spivey/we need a solid run stopper and an excellent pass defense!

Is Bannan better than Mosley though?? Seems to me like Bannan would be the #4 DT at best. Hope he’ll play for cheap.
