Packers make Morgan Burnett signing official

The Packers announced the signing of strong safety Morgan Burnett to a contract extension on Friday.

News of Burnett’s new four-year pact surfaced on Monday. Burnett, 24, notched a career-high 123 tackles in 2012, starting all 16 games for the second consecutive season.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Burnett received a four-year, $24.75 million deal with $8.25 million guaranteed.

In other Packers news Friday, the club waived undrafted rookie wide receiver Terrell Sinkfield. The club had signed him on June 11 after the Dolphins waived him May 28.

Burnett is one of the better up-and-coming safeties in the NFL. Good to get him signed now, before he approaches free agency and the sharks begin circling.

With all the doom and gloom we heard about the signing of Rodgers and Matthews regarding the cap the Pack is still able to sign Burnett and still have 10 million left. Thats good cap management no matter what people say. Lock up the core for years to come.

He’s the only guy that can tackle on that Defense, not named Clay

Vikings fans are the most uninformed fan base. Not the guy commenting above me but several others say Clay can’t tackle. Well do some reading 2 missed tackles all of last season – 1 of the best tacklers in the NFL. Your guy Chad Greenway has actually missed quite a few tackles the last 2 seasons.

Too bad for him, Cordarrelle Patterson will be burning him for years to come.
