All-Unemployed Team Update: New faces at offensive tackle, kicker

AP

Saturday’s a good day to clean, to fix things up, to paint, to take out the recycling. This is what I’ve been told, at least.

Well, Saturday’s also a good day for us to give PFT’s PFT’s All-Unemployed Team a needed freshening.

At kicker, we’ve added Billy Cundiff and Neil Rackers in place of Lawrence Tynes, who signed with Tampa Bay.

Our rationale for having two kickers? Cundiff’s kickoff leg is very good, but his field-goal accuracy has slipped. Kickoffs aren’t Rackers’ strength, but he’s probably going to knock home the vast bulk of field goals kickers ought to make.

We’ve also made an addition at tackle. With tackle Demetress Bell to sign with Dallas if he passes a physical, per ESPN Dallas, we’ve added Winston Justice, a 12-game starter for Indianapolis in 2012. Justice, who turns 29 in September, is one of several experienced right tackles still on the market.

With training camps beginning, some of the members of the All-Unemployed Team figure to find work, and as that happens, we’ll keep updating the squad as a resource for those curious about the best unsigned players at each position.

For one thing, I very much enjoy keeping up this list. And I really, really prefer it to doing work around the home.
