Cowboys to give center Travis Frederick a little work at guard, too

The Cowboys plan to have first-round pick Travis Frederick “spending most of his time at center” in training camp, head coach Jason Garrett said Saturday, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

However, Garrett also noted that Frederick would get some practice reps at guard, too, the Star-Telegram reported.

“He has a comfort level with that, so we’re going to look for opportunities starting here in training camp to be able to do some of that,” Garrett said of Frederick playing guard, per the paper.

If Frederick shows he’s capable of playing guard, it strengthens the Cowboys’ options along the offensive line, as the club has the experienced Phil Costa to plug in at center if Frederick were to play elsewhere inside.
