The Saints have placed wide receiver Kenny Stills and linebackers Rufus Johnson and Eric Martin on the active / non-football injury list, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reported Saturday.
However, Saints beat writer Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported that Stills, Johnson and Martin are expected to be available to practice once training camp starts on Friday, July 26.
The specific reasons for why Stills, Johnson and Martin have been placed on the active-NFI list are not yet known. In a 2008 primer for players, the NFLPA described some of the ways to qualify for placement on the various reserve lists.
Stills is a fifth-round pick from Oklahoma, with Johnson a seventh-round selection from Tarleton State. Martin is an undrafted free agent from Nebraska.
The Saints’ rookies reported to training camp on Thursday. Veterans report on Thursday, July 25.
