Cowboys add Alex Tanney as camp arm

Five days ago, the Cowboys held a three-man Gong Show at quarterback.  On Sunday, the Cowboys declared a winner.

Winning the check for $516.32 was Alex Tanney.  He joins Tony Romo, Kyle Orton, and Nick Stephens on the 90-man roster.

Adding a fourth quarterback became critical for the Cowboys, given that Romo will have his throws limited in training camp following offseason surgery to remove a cyst from his back.

Tanney, who played college football at Division III Monmouth, gained notice after posting a YouTube video of trick shots.  He was signed by the Chiefs last year, but he was placed on injured reserve in late August.

Hey, make a few NFL bucks; pay off some loans. It may not be a “Rudy” thing. But, you got your name on a jersey and some bucks.

Heard a lot of good things about Tanney in KC last year. Jim Zorn was big on the guy. He would of been the 3rd string QB had he not got hurt in the pre season.

Vince Young would be a perfect fit for a team needing a quarterback. … He is Motivated, Hungry and Determined to prove he can still play this game at a high level…. and help lead a team deep into the playoffs and possibly to the Big Dance… Vince Young is salary-cap friendly “Low Cost – High Reward” type of guy…. A wise choice for a Owner/GM willing to take a chance on him….

Hey if Tanney can complete a pass to his college roommate flying sown the road in the back of a pick up truck, then he should be able to hit Dez sprinting down the sideline. Just sayin’.
