As expected, the Cowboys have signed tackle Demetress Bell. As not expected, the Cowboys placed Bell on the team’s active/non-football injury list.
Bell, who spent 2012 with the Eagles, entered the league as a seventh-round pick of the Bills in 2008. He is the son of NBA Hall of Famer Karl Malone.
Joining Bell on the Cowboys’ active NFI list are center/guard Ryan Cook, long snapper Louis-Philippe Ladouceur, guard Ronald Leary, guard Nate Livings, and receiver Lavasier Tuinei, who like Bell was signed on Sunday and promptly placed on NFI.
During training camp and the preseason, a player on the non-football injury list can be shifted at any time to the active roster. Until then, he doesn’t count against the 90-man limit.
