Cowboys worried Tyrone Crawford has torn Achilles

The Cowboys believe second-year defensive end Tyrone Crawford may have suffered a torn Achilles, director of player personnel Stephen Jones indicated Sunday, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas.

MRI results will be needed to confirm Crawford’s injury, per MacMahon. A torn Achilles could conceivably threaten to end his 2013 season. Crawford was injured on Sunday, the first day of training camp practices for Dallas.

The 23-year-old Crawford appeared in all 16 games in 2012 for Dallas, recording 20 tackles. Were he lost for the season, the Cowboys’ D-line depth behind starters DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer would be thinned.

According to Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas, Jones indicated Sunday that the club could look to add a defensive lineman. The Cowboys currently have 89 players on their roster.

I don’t care who it is or what team they play for – I hate seeing these season ending injuries – especially this early.

Can’t Goodell do something constructive for a change and outlaw torn Achilles?

Arggggghhhhhh… First Brent and his infinite wisdom drove drunk last year. Then Ratliff, passed on Shariff Floyd, the number 7 player on their board at 18. Came to camp without signing anybody else and cutting Anthony Hargrove, and now day 1 of practice the young pup with the torn Achilles. SNAKE BIT is what every Cowboys fan is. The team we free up loving has been run into the ground by Jerry’s size 9 ego filled head.

Another torn Achilles? I can’t remember a year when so many players at different positions suffered the same injury.

While he love to hate other’s teams, I HOPE I speak for most fans in saying, we hate to see this happen to other players and the fans of those teams.

I don’t know if it is the trainer, but the leg injuries with the Cowboys have been uncanny – Austin, Ratliff, Crawford, Felix (ex-Cowboy now) etc.

It could be a cramp but it’s probably a MCL sprain.

could the shorter practice sessions have with something to do with the number/type of injuries?

My guess is now that John Abraham will be getting a call. I’m all for youth movement and keeping the team young but if Abraham only plays about 20-30% of plays he can still be very effective and for a cheap price.
