Cowboys worried Tyrone Crawford has torn Achilles

The Cowboys believe second-year defensive end Tyrone Crawford may have suffered a torn Achilles, director of player personnel Stephen Jones indicated Sunday, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas.

MRI results will be needed to confirm Crawford’s injury, per MacMahon. A torn Achilles could conceivably threaten to end his 2013 season. Crawford was injured on Sunday, the first day of training camp practices for Dallas.

The 23-year-old Crawford appeared in all 16 games in 2012 for Dallas, recording 20 tackles. Were he lost for the season, the Cowboys’ D-line depth behind starters DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer would be thinned.

According to Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas, Jones indicated Sunday that the club could look to add a defensive lineman. The Cowboys currently have 89 players on their roster.
