We can cross another first rounder off the list of unsigned 2013 draft picks.

Veteran NFL reporter Jason Cole reports that the Texans have agreed to terms on a contract with wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and that Hopkins will sign the deal shortly. The Texans rookies reported on Sunday with the first full-squad practice coming later this week, so Hopkins won’t be missing any time on the field.

Hopkins carries big expectations into his rookie year as the Texans are hoping he can put an end to their search for a complement to Andre Johnson in the passing game. Hopkins hasn’t been guaranteed the starting job, but he’d have to fall awfully flat not to wind up in the lineup when the regular season gets underway given the way that the team has gushed about his ability since drafting him in April.

Hopkins scored 18 touchdowns at Clemson in 2012 and his knack for finding the end zone would come in handy for a Texans offense that has struggled to throw the ball into the end zone in recent years. Not every rookie receiver makes the smoothest transition to the professional ranks, but the Texans are putting a lot of stock in Hopkins succeeding right away.

Safety D.J. Swearinger and tackle Brennan Williams are also unsigned for the Texans, a status you’d imagine will change in the next few days as the Texans get down to business in camp.
