Jets to work out Austin Collie today

Austin Collie AP

If you’re an out-of-work wide receiver with a history of concussions, today’s your lucky day.

In addition to the previously reported visit from Laurent Robinson, the Jets are also working out Austin Collie today, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Collie has worked out for the 49ers and Patriots this offseason, and will need to also show his knee is sound after last year’s torn patellar tendon.

Both could probably help the Jets, but proving they’re well is the first hurdle. And the fact they’re bringing both in indicates they’re probably looking at a number of others, polishing up the emergency list before the start of camp.

He really needs to retire with all of the concussions he has had. I remember cringing when I read of his latest concussion on the scroll during a game.

Can’t imagine anyone signing Collie before the 1st regular season game. Who would want to fully guarantee his salary for the year?

As a Colts fan for 49 years, I will miss what a healthy Austin Collie adds to the team, but I do wish he would just get to the next stage of his life and not put himself at risk any more. As they say at Walgreens, be well.

Just sign Braylon Edwards Idzik, and pursue Lloyd after since his market should be down right about now..

Austin Collie is an accident-on-the-field waiting to happen. #SadButTrue

I don’t revel in saying that, but how else can you look at the guy?
