Von Miller says he “did nothing wrong”

Kansas City Chiefs v Denver Broncos Getty Images

Via his verified Twitter account, Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller responded Monday to reports he’s facing a four-game NFL suspension with a brief statement where he indicated he had done “nothing wrong.”

“Seeing reports abt 4 game susp,” Miller wrote. “I know I did nothing wrong. I’m sure this’ll be resolved fairly. Disapp. Broncos have 2 open camp like this.”

Mike Klis of the Denver Post, citing an unnamed source, reported Monday that Miller tested positive for amphetamines and marijuana in 2011.

The 24-year-old Miller is entering his third NFL season. He’s notched a combined 30 sacks in his first two NFL seasons.

  15. rhamrhoddy says: Jul 22, 2013 3:30 PM

For a punishment, he should be required to smoke up immediately before the first 4 games of the season instead of a suspension.

Let’s start making this league FUN again!

  22. bauer49 says: Jul 22, 2013 3:35 PM

Innocent until proven guilty….great to see all the Bronco haters jumping on this. What a shock! If he is guilty he will have to serve his four game suspension like anyone else. But lets hold off on the “cheater” accusations until you know what he did or did not do. Take a deep breath Bronco Haters, gain the facts then come back and post…otherwise you are not worthy of arguing with.

  23. screenpass says: Jul 22, 2013 3:37 PM

People forget that a few years before Elway was hired into the front office by the Broncos he was a fall down drunk who couldn’t keep his life in order.

You can’t fault a GM for trying to build a team in his own image.

So, we have another player convicted in the court of public opinion because the NFL can’t keep its drug testing and suspension program secure.

Now even if Miller appeals and the suspension is overturned, he’s still “guilty because it was just a technicality”.

That someone on the inside is able to feed information to someone on the outside makes the NFL look less than competent when it comes to security issues.

Happened with Sherman and Browner last year when their suspensions were leaked to Adam Schefter, happening to Miller now. Guilty until proven innocent….and even if they aren’t proven guilty, they’re guilty anyway, because some people will continue to say so.

I’m all for a rigorous anti-PED program, but for the love of God, start finding the idiots who are leaking this information before it’s meant to come out.

I’m no Broncos fan, but let’s be fair to the guy. He hasn’t even been officially suspended yet. This is an unconfirmed report from an anonymous source claiming that at some point in the unknown future he will be suspended for an unspecified violation of an unnamed policy. That’s about as vague as rumors come.

Uh, not fair. You could send us non-roided Von Miller and we will not only happy take him, but the whole city of buffalo will bet the ‘Vegas Line’ that Miller is AT LEAST twice as productive as Shawn Merriman. Miller is just clearly smarter, and more talented than Merriman.

Not trying to rag on the guy, but Merriman without ‘roids hits a magnitude beyond defining with words. But I usually go with “That guy is a huge bum.”

That still remains the largest fine and punishment in NFL history, making Spygate a minor offense in comparison.

  64. bauer49 says: Jul 22, 2013 4:26 PM

    Ccolgain,
If you are not sure that there are bronco haters try reading the reader responses to the miller story. You are right Denver hasn’t won a superbowl since the 1998 season. Broncos made the AFC championship in 2005 and were within one play of the AFC championship last year. For the record, Denver played its worst game of the season against the Ravens and still had them beat with less than a minute to play. Denver gave the Ravens a better game than the all mighty niners did in the Superbowl. Vegas has the favorites this year as the Niners and the Broncos….dont be jealous I am sure your team will watch the game on TV.

  65. donnymacjack says: Jul 22, 2013 4:27 PM

Hope all the Bronco fans that hated on Sherman last year will now understand why it’s complete BS to have something like this leaked by a “so-called NFL Insider”. Frankly it’s a violation of due process and a violation of privacy IMO. Adam “Pretty Boy” Scheffler should be out of a job.

  66. bauer49 says: Jul 22, 2013 4:31 PM

    Cartire,
How are things in the land of assumption? No one has the facts on the miller story and that includes you and I. Prejudging someones guilt is sad and pathetic. As for your seahawks comparison, its without merit. The seahawks CB was found innocent and justice was done. The Seahawks CB thinks he is the best in football…good for him he should think that. So actually its different team same standard same rules for all players. Its pretty simple stuff actually and yes that means you were not right. Don’t stress enjoy the season. Seahawks and Niners are the favorites and both should be great this year.

  67. qweststrike2008 says: Jul 22, 2013 4:33 PM

    Meh.

4 games off for Miller will only mean fresher legs for the rest of the year and on to the Super Bowl.

Elway’s plan is an unstoppable offense, that why he signed Wes and pretty much ignored the defense. Watch as they put 35 points up before halftime every week and win 14 games.

    #bronconation

  69. bauer49 says: Jul 22, 2013 4:40 PM

    joe sixpack,
If you read the articles about the fines the money Denver saved was used on stadium construction, there was no competitive advantage unlike the Patriots Spygate Scandal. Building your stadium vs taping your opponents plays….. Its comparing apples and oranges and the Broncos two superbowl wins are not tainted. Hope that clears up your confusion.
