The Buccaneers currently have six tight ends on the roster, with Luke Stocker, Tom Crabtree, Nate Byham and ex-Jaguar Zach Miller among the options at the position. However, they could stand to add a little more depth. Dallas Clark, the Buccaneers’ top pass-catching tight end in 2012, is an unrestricted free agent.
The 33-year-old Shiancoe appeared in four games for New England in 2012, all as a reserve. An 11th-year player from Morgan State, Shiancoe (6-4, 250) has caught 243 passes for 2,677 yards and 27 touchdowns in his NFL career. He’s played for the Giants (2003-2006), Vikings (2007-2011) and Patriots (2012).
In addition to tight end, running back is another position where Tampa Bay understandably may want to strengthen its hand. According to Jenna Laine of SportsTalkFlorida.com, free agent Peyton Hills is also slated to visit the Buccaneers on Tuesday. Hills, 27, rushed for 309 yards and one touchdown on 85 carries in 2012 for Kansas City.
