There’s another kicker in Jets camp.
Billy Cundiff, the 33-year-old veteran who has been with nearly half the teams in the league at one time or another, has signed with the Jets a day after working out for them.
That means the Jets’ training camp will feature a kicking competition between Cundiff and Nick Folk. That competition will probably get slightly less media attention than the quarterback competition between Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith.
To make room for Cundiff on the roster, the Jets have released undrafted rookie kicker Brett Maher.
The Jets are the 12th team Cundiff has signed with in his career. He has played in games for the Cowboys, Saints, Browns, Ravens and Redskins, and also been on the roster of (but never actually played for) the Buccaneers, Packers, Falcons, Chiefs, Lions and 49ers.
