Packers waive rookie QB Matt Brown

The Packers waived rookie quarterback Matt Brown on Tuesday, the NFL disclosed in its official transactions.

An undrafted free agent from Illinois State, Brown was waived with a “non-football injury” designation. With Brown no longer on the roster, Graham Harrell and B.J. Coleman are now Green Bay’s only backups to Aaron Rodgers.

Harrell, the former Texas Tech star, was Green Bay’s No. 2 quarterback in 2012, but Coleman, a second-year pro, will get a shot to win the job in camp, too. In a recent Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel story, Packers quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo indicated the club will split reps between the two reserves in camp.

The 22-year-old Brown threw for a school-record 10,591 yards with 78 TDs from 2009 through 2012 with the Redbirds.

The Packers’ first training-camp practice is Friday morning.

Packers are going to be so bad this year. No defense and no heart.

Was just going to be a camp arm anyways. BJ Coleman could be the new back up if he got his arm under control, strength is no issue with him.

Probably because he throws the ball laces out.

He was let go because he actually believed that Ryan Braun was on steroids…

With those backup quarterbacks and that offensive line, the coaches ought to cover Rodgers in bubble wrap.

Keep laughing Pack fans, Ponder improved greatly the last half season. Just wait ’til you see what he does this year.

Matt Brown probably told Rodgers he thought he’d be bigger in person.

Very dumb move because after week 2 the pack will need every QB they can find. Smarten up pack. WINTER IS COMING.
