The Raiders waived cornerback / kick returner Coye Francies and linebacker Travis Goethel on Tuesday.

According to the NFL’s official transactions, Francies was waived with a “failure to disclose physical condition” designation.

Francies, 26, led the Raiders in kickoff-return yardage (475) and kickoff returns (20) in 2012. He appeared in 15 games, all as a reserve.

Francies entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick of Cleveland in 2009. He played eight combined regular-season games for the Browns from 2009-2010 before next seeing regular-season action with Oakland in 2012.

The 25-year-old Goethel played eight games as a backup in 2012, notching a pair of tackles. He suffered a torn ACL at Baltimore in November, ending his season. He previously had missed the 2011 campaign because of a knee injury.

Goethel was a sixth-round pick of Oakland in 2010. He’s appeared in 16 regular-season games.

They need to sign Watson as well, but they have around 7M in cap space. Francies was an obvious cut with Cribbs on the roster and Ford returning from his ankle injury. Goethel is rarely healthy, and with all the linebackers they brought in, he was SOL.

poor goethel, got thrown to the wolves opening night last year when he had to replace condo as a long snapper on MNF vs the chargers…that was omen for the entire raiders season last year.

Go to YouTube and pull up “Olivier Vernon Knocks Coye Francies Back To Cleveland”. It’s a major league hit.

Finally some news… I am not sure how I like Mac’s tight lipped off season. I am used to logging in and seeeing raider news all through the off season. Other than that I like all the moves tat have happened so far by this organization. Iwas hoping that these cuts woud lead to a big free agent landing but it does make sense to cut these guys and use te room to sign Hayden and keep some free agents. cant wait until first pre season games to see these guys in action.

For true Raider fans this year is going to hurt, it might redefine what “Pain” means….

There has been a decade of decadence that is about to be capped by a season of $50 million in dead cap space. Players that you want to cut, and want to keep have had to go.

Next years draft is the start of the new dawn in Raider History…… Lets hope that Marc Davis keeps the ship on course….

Did the Raiders luck out on the free agent market for ’2013? Hind- site I guess that we could have waived Kelly, Seymour & Heyward-Bay before the 2012 season. We wouldn’t have been any better with the ’3 that is listed. Better to have to have eat the salary then and use the money to have kept some of the players of ’2103.

We could have kept Whyler, Meyers & Bryant for the ’2013 season . O well live and learn!
