Colts reach deal with Bjoern Werner

As more teams head to camp, the pace of draft pick signing will heat up. And the Colts, who report Saturday, have gotten their business done.

The Colts announced this morning they have agreed in principle with first-round pick Bjoern Werner.

Werner’s making the transition to outside linebacker, and the Colts signed free agent Erik Walden this offseason to fill the spot opposite Robert Mathis.

So there’s time for the rookie to adjust, but there’s also a high expectation for the 24th overall pick. He had 13 sacks last year at Florida State, and the Colts need help in that area, quickly.

If he can’t beat out Walden, he will be a bust.

Walden is a capable back-up, but showed with the Packers he is NOT a good player when he has to start, let alone a difference-maker. The Colts need a difference-maker at this position.

Bjorn Werner? I’d rather have Bjork, the Icelandic pop-star on my team.
