Report: Rams to waive guard Rokevious Watkins

The Rams will waive second-year guard Rokevious Watkins, Adam Caplan of reported Wednesday.

Watkins, 24, played 36 snaps in the Rams’ Week One loss at Detroit in 2012 but missed the rest of the season with an ankle injury. In May, he was suspended for one game for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Watkins had been the backup right guard in offseason workouts.

Watkins (6-3, 338) was the Rams’ fifth-round pick in 2012 (No. 150 overall).

UPDATE 3:55 p.m. ET: Per Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Watkins was “well over the team’s proscribed target weight” upon his arrival at training camp.

why would anyone call out the rams for waiving a 5th round selection they are mostly crapshoots anyway in rds 5-7 that said I hope he catches on with another team and with the scarce amount of o line talent im sure he will

Is he Barkevious Mingo’s older brother?

Can’t say I’m surprised by this. He showed up last year out of shape then promptly gets injured week 1 then suspended. Looks like Chris Williams will be starting.

I hope the Browns pick him up… at least just for Training Camp!
