The Rams will waive second-year guard Rokevious Watkins, Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com reported Wednesday.

Watkins, 24, played 36 snaps in the Rams’ Week One loss at Detroit in 2012 but missed the rest of the season with an ankle injury. In May, he was suspended for one game for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Watkins had been the backup right guard in offseason workouts.

Watkins (6-3, 338) was the Rams’ fifth-round pick in 2012 (No. 150 overall).

UPDATE 3:55 p.m. ET: Per Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Watkins was “well over the team’s proscribed target weight” upon his arrival at training camp.
