Richardson agrees to terms with Jets

On Tuesday night, 14 first-round picks had not yet signed their rookie deals.  The number is shrinking.

Four first-rounders have agreed to terms in the past 24 hours.  The most recent is, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson.

Richardson, the 13th overall pick in the draft, joins Falcons cornerback Desmond Trufant (No. 22), Colts defensive end Bjeorn Werner (No. 24), and Packers defensive end Datone Jones (No. 26) as players who agreed to terms on Wednesday.

Still, 10 players remain unsigned, and holdouts could happen.  Titans guard Chance Warmack, the 10th overall pick, technically becomes a holdout on Thursday, when his team has its first training-camp practice.

And, please, don’t drop a comment arguing that a player isn’t a holdout unless he’s under contract.  Whether under contract or not, he’s holding out for a better offer.

Doesn’t hold out imply that the fault for not being signed is on the player? I’d argue that the team is just as responsible.

I too will be a holdout on Thursday. The Titans are offering to have me hauled away in cuffs if I show up. I think I can do better than that, and am waiting for a better offer, like maybe a simple beating.

Have the Jets taken any offensive players in the first round under Rex Ryan?

You mentioned the Titans potential holdout with their training camp starting today, how about the vikqueefs who’s training camp opens today and their 3 unsigned 1st rounders?

Can’t wait to read how the lavender Larry toads will spin this developing embarrassment.

A rookie Guard holding out? Check the record books, but I think that may be a first!

Unless a player has a signed contract, he is not a “holdout”.

Wilkerson and Richardson are going to make quite the duo.

If Coples’s transition to OLB goes smoothly, the Jets might have their first successful pass-rush of the Ryan era, which is scary, if all the other defensive components work as well as they have under him.
