Whitner says Brooks is sorry for the thing he’s not being prosecuted for

In June, 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks allegedly did or didn’t do something that initially had teammate Lamar Divens intent on pressing charges.

Reportedly, Brooks hit Divens in the head with a beer bottle, repeatedly.

But Brooks won’t be prosecuted, because prosecutors fear they won’t be able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Brooks hit Divens in the head with a beer bottle, repeatedly.

But Brooks has apologized to the team for whatever he did or didn’t do, repeatedly, and safety Donte Whitner has shared those details publicly.

He explained the situation,” Whitner said, via CSNBayArea.com.  “I gave my input on it and we left it at that.  He’s tremendously sorry for what he did.  Anybody would be embarrassed and he just has to move on and make he continues to make the right choices from this point forward.  He’ll be OK.”

Though prosecution won’t happen to Brooks, punishment from the 49ers apparently is coming.

“It was a bad choice that he made, and he’s going to have to pay for that,” Whitner said. “We don’t know what it’s going to be, yet.”

It should have been prosecution.  Amazingly, it won’t be.

I’m not amazed. Divens is clearly being paid off by the team. No witness, no victim, no case.

The real question is, was Ahmad Brooks wearing a Miami Dolphins hat when he assaulted his teammate?

He loved the sound it made. Like a crystal chime, but with more of a squishy sound.

Let’s just pretend it never happened for the good of the team. That way it will never happen again.

Brooks had kept his nose clean as a Niner until he overdid on the booze. Maybe he should be prosecuted, but regardless of whether he was paid off or just doesnt want to get himself in a legal mess before training camp, the reality is that the victim doesn’t intend to help the authorities convict him. Moral issues aside, they decided to settle it between themselves. As someone with a close relative who has extreme blackout drunk rampages, I just hope Brooks realizes he needs o stay away from the booze.

does this mean Divins isn’t eligible to join the concussion lawsuit against the NFL?

Our self-appointed team spokesman needs to learn when to shut his mouth.

Like most in today’s society, Brooks is really apologizing for getting caught – not for what he allegedly did.

    Or didn’t do.
