Lions waive guard Bill Nagy

The Lions have waived offensive guard Bill Nagy, Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com reported Thursday.

Nagy, 25, was a seventh-round pick of the Cowboys in 2011. He started four games at guard for Dallas a rookie before suffering a broken left ankle. He then missed all of the 2012 season after a high-ankle sprain and surgery on the same leg. The Lions claimed him on waivers last August from Dallas.

With Nagy departing, the Lions now have an open spot on their 90-player roster.

Randy Moss or Brandon Lloyd on the opposite side of Calvin Johnson would look really good…especially with Reggie Bush on a swing pass.

I really liked Naggy when he was with Dallas. Those 4 starts he had with us before he broke his ankle against NE were solid for a 7th round rookie. He should let Dallas take a look at him again…couldn’t hurt.

I guess it’s official then. The Lions are officially stuck with Dominic Raiola at center again next season.

    Raiola was terrible last year.

unbiasfan, I don’t think any of us expected him to make the cut. Nobody has seen him play. But it is fun to punch on the Lions.

    Revis is “speechless” about this.

Someone not good enough to make the o-line in Dallas won’t be missed.

He’s probably just dealing with that lingering injury and not going to be ready to really showcase himself early enough. Maybe he could heal up and join a roster later in the season. And perhaps the Lions want to brush him under the rug now and hope to retain the pole position for when he’s truly ready. He can be their unofficial 54th man, shhhh.
