Jets place Mike Goodson on reserve / did not report list

The Jets have placed running back Mike Goodson on the reserve / did not report list, the club confirmed Thursday.

“We knew Mike was not going to report and we understand why he’s not here,” Jets head coach Rex Ryan said in a statement issued Thursday, according to Seth Walder of the New York Daily News.

The Jets signed the 26-year-old Goodson to a three-year deal in March. He was arrested in May on marijuana and handgun charges.

ESPNNewYork.com’s Rich Cimini first reported Goodson had been placed on the reserve list.

The Jets made some changes in the backfield in the offseason, adding Goodson and trading for the Saints’ Chris Ivory. Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight are other options at tailback for New York. However, McKnight has been placed on the active / physically unable to perform list to start camp, the club disclosed Thursday.

In other Jets transactions Thursday, the club waived first-year wide receiver Thomas Mayo and undrafted rookie defensive lineman Jake McDonough with injury settlements.

So something that was expected to happen… happened.

In the future, when Rich Cimini reports something just ignore it.

man – if Chris Ivory can stay healthy – he will be a Monster! not a j-e-t-s fan – but definitely an Ivory fan!

Whenever I struggle with the day to day grind, I consider Rich Cimini’s life:

    1. Has to report on the Jets.
    2. Has reported on the Jets for 15+ Years.
    3. Has to work for ESPN.
    4. Readers of his own blog call him Cimidiot.
    5. ESPN disciplined him for tweeting a female derogatory term towards a colleague (Jane McManus) and ESPN never disciplines anyone for tweeting.
    6. Jets fans hate him more than Mark Sanchez.
    7. Jets reporters have to be the most negative human beings on the planet. Imagine having to be in the same room as these guys.
    8. Readers on PFT think he’s awful at his job.
    9. Adam Schefter is the “Jets Insider” at ESPN and he covered the Broncos.
    10. Camp just started and already Rich Cimini hates his job.

One thin’s for sure: he has the job you wish you had.

Yeah, I mean, why report on a New York team that always has a major national storyline when you could live in Ohio and write about the Bengals or Browns.
