Vikings get Xavier Rhodes signed as well

Xavier Rhodes AP

Two down, one to go.

On the heels of news that the Vikings have signed first-round defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd comes word that another one of the team’s three first-round picks has agreed to a deal with the team. Cornerback Xavier Rhodes, the 25th overall pick of April’s draft, will be at camp on Thursday after dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on the contract, according to his agent Sunny Shah.

Rhodes started 38 games during his career at Florida State and is expected to make a serious run at a starting job in Minnesota as well. If he’s opposite Chris Cook, the Vikings will sport one of the bigger cornerback duos in the NFL which should help them when they face off with the likes of Calvin Johnson and Brandon Marshall this season.

With Rhodes under contract, the Vikings only need to lock up wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson to get all of their first rounders into camp and working toward making an impact on the field this season.

Too bad he’s in a division where every OTHER team has a legitimate QB.

This guy will be crying by halftime in every game.

bmarsh took notice xavier. Even he’s scared. Calvin you don’t even have to worry about. He’s already scared Harrison is going to crush him in the endzone and damage his nerves/fingers again.

It didn’t take long for you to make your usual idiotic comment. Not long at all. It would be nice if you could change your personality but that’s not possible I suppose… It’s a shame, truly it is.

Hope he can help the 24th ranked pass d and 16th overall defense. The packers historically bad defense finished 11th in those categories, so if theyre historically bad, this viking defense has a looooooooooooooong way to go.

And when I say crying, I mean crying really hard. Like a baby. Yeah, crying like that. Because he’s sad! Yeah, sad because the OTHER teams’ legitimate quarterbacks make him want to cry at halftime!!

to bad he plays in a division in which there’s no legitimate offensive line to go against his very legitimate defensive line. oh yeah he also has the best safety in the division. I think he’ll be okay

Where we’re going we won’t need RHODES!

The Bears and Lions have legitimate receiving threats in our division, so getting this guy was a big pick-up for our secondary. Excited to see what he can do with Harrison Smith and Cook in the secondary.

Again, the negative comments are from scared fans of other teams.

This young man is a beast at his position. I loved his game at FSU, one thing he can do as well is lay some wood. Great addition for the Vikings.

Why are these picker fans trolling vikes blogs they should worry about defending ped users (Braun)!!!

I am a koolaid drinking homer so I can’t say anything bad about your hopes and predictions but if you are counting and rookies to turn the tide in year 1 you might not be as good as you think.

Turning the tide? I mean the Vikes went 10-6 last year and made the playoffs, and if Ponder was healthy, the way he was playing, we may have had a shot in GB, and the way we dominated SF in the dome, we may have been able to keep it close in SF. This team isnt looking to turn the tide, just to improve upon last season.
