Two down, one to go.
On the heels of news that the Vikings have signed first-round defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd comes word that another one of the team’s three first-round picks has agreed to a deal with the team. Cornerback Xavier Rhodes, the 25th overall pick of April’s draft, will be at camp on Thursday after dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on the contract, according to his agent Sunny Shah.
Rhodes started 38 games during his career at Florida State and is expected to make a serious run at a starting job in Minnesota as well. If he’s opposite Chris Cook, the Vikings will sport one of the bigger cornerback duos in the NFL which should help them when they face off with the likes of Calvin Johnson and Brandon Marshall this season.
With Rhodes under contract, the Vikings only need to lock up wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson to get all of their first rounders into camp and working toward making an impact on the field this season.
