Cheetah tried to get closer to Chris Johnson

Chris Johnson AP

Titans running back Chris Johnson wasn’t necessarily worried about getting outrun by a cheetah.

At one point, becoming lunch became a legitimate concern.

Johnson and Bears return man Devin Hester ran against the big cat at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Fla., for an upcoming special on Nat Geo Wild.

And things were apparently a little wild from the start, even though they were separated by a fence before the race.

“The crazy thing is when they first set it up and they did a test run before we got there, the cheetah actually jumped over the barrier,” Johnson said, via Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. “So they had to make it higher.”

Johnson wasn’t going to divulge the outcome of the race, but did admit to being the victim of a little cat trash-talk, saying: “It stared me down and walked back and forth.”

The fact it wasn’t walking off a meal, and Johnson’s talking about it, is a solid first step.

Johnson looked too stringy for the cat. Someone overcooked him.

lol, wow! I’d say of all of the big cats, because attacked by a cheetah would be your best chance at a victory. They have the least muscle mass compared to leopards, jaguars, panthers, lions and of course tigers. Other than the fact that their claws aren’t retractible and you’d of course be tired afterward Hester or Johnson or anybody else would have a shot.

I know they can’t say, but you know the cheetah smoked them.

Too bad CJ only runs parallel to the line of skirmish/finish line..

And after 12 jukes and 6 spin moves within the first 10 yards, Hester got too dizzy and ended up doubled over puking.

The cheetah, after crossing the finish line, promptly hopped over the fence and devoured the competition.

Id love to see the cheetah put on some fake dreads. Just for the fun of it.

The cat was wondering if Johnson would taste as awful as he spoke.

Could Hester & Johnson understand what each one was saying? Both of those two talk like they have a mouth full of marbles.

Did these fools actually run against a cheetah. lol Yeah, now i have heard it all before. From Hernand gate, monkey gate, its one up stupidity with these players.

Had that actually happened that would have made for an interesting headline.. “Titans rb Chris Johnson was put on the PUP list due to lingering effects from a cheetah attack”.

Then they had an IQ test and said to Santonio and the cheetah, “whoever answers first wins….what is 2 times 2?”

    Silence…

Hester said to Johnson… I don’t have to beat the Cheetah…. I just have to beat you.

  17. tindeaux says: Jul 26, 2013 3:48 PM

well, if hester or johnson think they can beat the cheetah, they don’ t even need a fence. Just out-run the cheetah. yeah?

I could see the Glazers signing a cheetah to get some more PR. Seems like the care more about that then winning anyway.

Chris lost fair and square, but still dissed his opponent as “a lousy cheetah”.

  22. thegreatgabbert says: Jul 26, 2013 5:08 PM

CJ had a lead, but then he remembered a warning he’d learned in Boy Scouts. “If a large animal is behind you, DON’T try to run away.”.

  23. giantssb42champs says: Jul 26, 2013 6:17 PM

Wait, isn’t this story about Chris Johnson racing a New England Patriot? Oh I’m sorry, you said “cheetah”. I misheard you.

  24. nomoreseasontix says: Jul 26, 2013 8:29 PM

Put a gold grill in the cheetah’s mouth and see how fast it is…

  25. lakermetskins says: Jul 27, 2013 12:20 AM

Wait! This story eerily reminds me of the that “Tortoise and the Hare” story.

    I hope the cheetah’s not over-confident.
