Lions sign defensive tackle Andre Fluellen


The Lions have signed defensive tackle Andre Fluellen for the fourth time in his NFL career, Tim Twentyman of reported Friday.

Fluellen, 28, was a third-round pick of the Lions in 2008. The club re-signed him in March 2012, released him in August, then re-signed him again in December for the final three games of the season. This offseason, he signed with Chicago, but he was let go in May.

Now, he’s back again with Detroit to vie for a reserve role along the interior of the defensive line.

Fluellen (6-2, 302) has appeared in 56 regular-season games since entering the league, making five starts. He played collegiately at Florida State.

In other transactions Friday, the Lions placed offensive lineman Leroy Harris and wide receiver Devin Thomas on the active / physically unable to perform list. They also put defensive end Ronnell Lewis on the active / non-football illness list. The Lions’ reserve moves were disclosed in the NFL’s official transaction log.

    He wants you to know it’s Flu-ellen, not Sue Ellen, from Dallas. They don’t even look much alike. Even if she is up to 300 pounds now.

    You mean “THE” Andre Fluellen?! And they say the Lions aren’t improved this year………………

    He’s worth having. He knows their system. The Lions’ best unit is their defensive line so if you can add a guy who can make the opening day roster that’s a good thing.
