A scary scene is unfolding in Cleveland, where a player was carried off the field at training camp on a stretcher, loaded into an ambulance and rushed to a local hospital.

Multiple members of the media at Browns training camp say the team asked journalists not to take pictures or video, and to withhold the player’s name until his family has been notified.

People at the scene have described the situation on social media, saying that coaches and players looked very concerned as they circled around the fallen player and knelt in prayer. The player was on the ground for about five minutes while the medical staff tended to him before taking him to the ambulance.

We will continue to monitor the situation and update with further developments.

UPDATE 5:08 p.m. ET: Tom Reed of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the player is awake and alert and has movement in all four extremities.

UPDATE 5:41 p.m. ET: The Browns have confirmed that the injured player, Ryan Miller, is going to be OK.

If they are withholding a name, this is a very bad situation.

    Very scary.

He’s awake and alert now, movement in all extremities. they are still not releasing his name though. A backup offensive lineman is all that’s known right now.

This is unfortunate news for someone who has more than likely been training his ass off to crack the starting lineup. My prayers are with him.

No, no one needs to do anything about this game.

There are plenty of jobs out that WAY more dangerous than being an NFL player, and they arent even paid in 10 years what the average nfl player is paid for 1 season.

Players understand the risks, there is a price tag associated with those risks. Its up to them how they spend their lottery money.

Not a fan of the browns but you never want to see serious injuries. First maclin, then pitta and know him. Not a good saturday in football

Glad he is alert and awake and he’ll be okay. They really scared me with the “not disclosing player name” thing. Hope he gets well soon.
