In recent years, the Buccaneers have had a hard time selling enough tickets to allow their games to be televised in Tampa.
At first, the Bucs were buying the unsold non-premium seats, at 34 cents on the dollar. After about a year of doing that, the team opted instead to allow the local TV stations to carry other programming during home games.
This year, there may not be a need for that.
In connection with Saturday’s night practice at Raymond James Stadium, owner Bryan Glazer said (via JoeBucsFan.com) that there will be “a lot more games on TV than there were last year.”
Helping the cause will be the ability to reduce the threshold for non-premium ticket sales from 100 percent to 85 percent.
Of course, it didn’t help much last year. But the economy has improved and the team has improved and as other franchises worry about getting more fans to show up for games it looks like the Bucs finally will.
