Cromartie mixes it up in Jets camp

Cromartie AP

Football practice is sort of like hockey.  It’s tolerable to watch, but a fight always makes it more interesting.

In Jets camp, feisty cornerback Antonio Cromartie got into a tussle on Saturday morning with receiver Vidal Hazelton.  According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Hazelton caught a pass during one-on-one drills and then took exception to Cromartie’s physicality.

Cromartie responded by taking a swing at Hazelton.

It’s unknown whether Hazelton responded with a joke about Cromartie’s propensity for procreation, or his inability to remember the names of his offspring.

Last month, Cromartie’s physical play directed at quarterback Mark Sanchez during offseason workouts sparked a jawing match with receiver Santonio Holmes.

Last year, a spate of fights (with at least one sparked by a cheap shot from Cromartie during seven-on-seven drills) prompted Ryan to remind the team that the enemy doesn’t wear green and white.

Intensity is a good thing for a team.

That boy hurt, Cro’s ego was hurt a little bit so he responded like a two yr old.

Yeah, it was necessary. It was also true as well as funny.

Great! Another NFL player who doesn’t understand where the line is drawn related to physical violence. How long will it be before we find Cromartie on the police blotter?

Wake up, NFL – Cromartie’s trend of inappropriate physical behavior is right there in front of you. Don’t turn a blind eye to it now and then later wonder what you could have done to shape up player behavior!

Funny he keeps getting in scuffles at practice because he’s one of the softest tacklers in the history of the game.

Same guy that laid down in the playoffs to avoid having to hit the ball carrier.

    The only ‘Cheap Shot’ here….

If you’ve played the game then you understand how heated it can sometimes get, however this keeps happening to Cro. That tells me that he cannot control himself. That’s an issue. I actually agree with a comment above that when this guy is out of the league we’re gonna have to watch him closely.

Let’s see if he’s just as tough with a running back or lineman.

@wizwix be careful stepping down from that soap box and go enjoy a safer sport like golf or tennis. Not every football player who plays with aggression will end up a murderer. Don’t let a few rotten apples spoil the bunch.

Cromartie is trash. I’m surprised he’s still on a team.
    He’s not that good.

Cro showed he is a legitimate top 5 corner when Revis went down. He’s learned allot about football and has his own house in order. its all good.

Its NFL training camp , you better show some physical behavior. Wiswix would rather watch Blades of Glory.

Some time during a play this season, some blocking TE is going to remove him from his shoes when he isn’t looking.
