Football practice is sort of like hockey. It’s tolerable to watch, but a fight always makes it more interesting.
In Jets camp, feisty cornerback Antonio Cromartie got into a tussle on Saturday morning with receiver Vidal Hazelton. According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Hazelton caught a pass during one-on-one drills and then took exception to Cromartie’s physicality.
Cromartie responded by taking a swing at Hazelton.
It’s unknown whether Hazelton responded with a joke about Cromartie’s propensity for procreation, or his inability to remember the names of his offspring.
Last month, Cromartie’s physical play directed at quarterback Mark Sanchez during offseason workouts sparked a jawing match with receiver Santonio Holmes.
Last year, a spate of fights (with at least one sparked by a cheap shot from Cromartie during seven-on-seven drills) prompted Ryan to remind the team that the enemy doesn’t wear green and white.
