Dennis Pitta carted off Ravens’ practice field

Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta had to be carted off the field after suffering an injury in practice today.

Pitta collided with safety James Ihedigbo, and went to the ground, CSNBaltimore reports. There’s no immediate word on the nature of Pitta’s injury.

Pitta caught 61 passes for 669 yards and seven touchdowns last season. With Anquan Boldin now in San Francisco, Pitta is the Ravens’ leading returning receiver.

The Ravens were expected to incorporate tight ends in the offense even more this season, with Pitta and Ed Dickson likely being on the field together in a lot of two-tight end sets. Free agent tight end Visanthe Shiancoe visited the Ravens on Friday, and if Pitta is out for any significant time, Shiancoe would seem to be a likely signing.

This is just horrible with Maclin and now Pitta. Praying this man is okay and this is nothing serious.

So……I assume this isn’t gonna be the “Year of the Tight End”?

Who do the Ravens even have left from last season other than their grossly overpaid quarterback?
They won’t even make the playoffs this year.

After considering the history of teams the year after winning the SB, Flacco’s track record of only average regular season production, the offseason departures and changes to the Ravens, plus the increasing balance and parity in the AFC North (the NFL’s toughest division), I had Ravens going 9-7 tops – and a coin flip at best to even return to the playoffs. If Pitta misses multiple games they will be 8-8 at best.

Good luck in week one, shouldnt even bother showing up. It would be less embarrassing.

Dislocated hip, hope he returns quickly and is at full strength when they play us later this year.

It’s dislocated hip out at least against Denver. Not good news and the loss if bouldin looms larger.

Well this will teach Ravens fans for rooting for opposing injuries. It sucks when the shoe is on the other foot, huh?
