Fight marks third day of Titans’ training camp practices

A “brawl” involving approximately 20 Titans players broke out at the club’s Saturday’s training-camp practice, John Glennon of the Nashville Tennessean reported.

Per Glennon, a fight between safety Michael Griffin and wide receiver Michael Preston was the main event and started after Griffin made contact with wideout Nate Washington at the end of a play.

Griffin, per the Tennessean, volunteered to take care of any fines and said he threw the first punch.

“At the end of the day, it don’t need to get to that,” Griffin said, per the Tennessean. “There was a trash can over there, and people were falling over, people trying to break it up.”

Head coach Mike Munchak said he expected some physicality during Saturday’s padded practice, but he didn’t like seeing things escalate.

“You just don’t want guys swinging,” Munchak said, per a transcript on the club’s website. “You don’t want guys to get elevated to where someone could get hurt, luckily no one did, guys are just pulling each other off each other.”

Asked who won the fight, Munchak said: “I think it was a no-decision. It was hard to tell from my vantage point. I think it was more just the little guys trying to look tough.”

Never realized how bland this league can be outside of Redskins Park. It’s hilarious to see these small market teams like Tennessee, KC, Seattle etc. Think they can compete vs Mighty Washington DC’s Redskins. #Ipitythefool

Munchak is talking out both sides of his mouth. That’s a good thing. Fights mean football is just around the corner.
