Miller was injured during one-on-one drills

The frightening events that transpired at Browns training camp on Saturday arose from a fairly routine hit.

Coach Rob Chudzinski told the media after practice that offensive lineman Ryan Miller suffered a concussion while engaging in an individual drills.

“It was one-on-one blocking drills,” Chudzinski said, via comments distributed by the team. “I did not see it. Obviously, two guys were going against each other and hit against each other.”

The concussion apparently knocked Miller unconscious. He has since been evaluated at a hospital and released.

“I was very concerned about him,” Chudzinski said. “I went over and gave him a tap when he was going out. At that time he was moving around a little bit so that was encouraging.”

Giving the situation a far more ominous feel was the team’s initial request that the media not disclose the name of the player until his family could be notified. Those steps usually aren’t taken unless an injury is severe.

Or unless the news is coming from Michael Scott.
