Broncos bring in another new center

Steve Vallos AP

With J.D. Walton still suffering from an ankle injury and presumed replacement Dan Koppen now lost with a torn ACL, the Broncos are getting desperate.

They’ve filled the void created by the injury to Koppen by signing free-agent Steve Vallos.  The team announced the move moments ago.  He’ll join the team, pending a physical.

Vallos, who entered the league in 2007 with the Seahawks, has bounced through teams over the past few years, appearing in two games last season with the Eagles and two with the Jaguars.

Look for the Broncos to scan the waiver wire and the trade market for more help.  With Peyton Manning’s blind side now protected via a multi-million-dollar investment in left tackle Ryan Clady, the last thing the Broncos need is to have a center who’ll be shoved repeatedly into Peyton’s kneecaps.

At some point, it’s hard not to wonder whether former Peyton Manning teammate Jeff Saturday will come out of retirement for one more go.  If he hasn’t already dropped 50-plus pounds, Matt Birk style.

Jeff Saturday had absolutely nothing left last season for GB. He was horrendous, never could get to the 2nd level in the running game. It was actually pretty embarrassing he made the Pro Bowl. The Packers had to bench him late in the year because he was so bad.

Saturday was terrible last year that’s why he retired… he knows it, Peyton knows it, Broncos know it, why don’t you lol?

He was in the pro bowl so he could take a final snap with his best friend. Aka Peyton Manning, it wasn’t all Saturdays fault for GB’s terrible O-line. The productivity actually DECREASED after they pulled Saturday.

For the third time in his NFL career, Peyton is going to have to adjust how his hands fits under another man’s crotch.

no way Manning stays healthy all year, we’ll see how the Broncos manage without him. They will be sorry when they see Tebow tearing it up in NE

What games were you watching Ryann? Last 2 game of the regular season where he didn’t play the Packers offense exploded go look at the stats. In the playoffs I agree they didn’t do much but 1 of the games was at San Fran.

Jeff Saturday may have been bad last year, but he’s probably no worse than the guy they just picked up from the street who was cut by 2 bad teams in the same year

The only thing Tebow is going to be tearing up are gatorade packs to throw in the water.

Serious loss for the Broncos. 3rd string center for a Hall of Fame QB. I can’t help but wonder if the alcoholic attrition in their front office will hurt in finding replacement parts.

Teams build success from the inside out…

Just proves you can never have too many offensive lineman.

How would anyone know if he could get to 2nd level? Packers never ran the ball.

Oh heck, just have wonder boy snap it to himself. I mean everyone knows Manning IS the Denver Broncos now.

It would be so wonderful to see this arrogant team totally implode this year.
