Chargers add CB William Middleton

The Chargers added some experienced depth to their secondary Sunday, signing former Jaguars cornerback William Middleton, the club said.

Middleton (5-10, 190) made 12 regular-season starts in four NFL seasons with Jacksonville.  In 2012, he appeared in 10 games (three starts), notching 20 tackles. Middleton turns 28 on Monday.

The Chargers signed another Jaguars cornerback, Derek Cox, early in free agency. Cox is slated to start in a San Diego secondary that will have two new first-team cornerbacks after Quentin Jammer and Antoine Cason signed elsewhere in free agency. Middleton figures to compete for a reserve role.

How do the chargers expect to win the div with no one to cover Denver’s wideouts??

Good reserve corner. Capable of starting a few games and playing solid. Much less of an injury concern than Derek Cox, who gets dinged up quite easily, especially as the year wears on. Cox does have star potential though, IF he can learn to stay healthy and consistent. He did neither of those 2 in Jax unfortunately.

Fun fact: Derek Cox picked off Peyton Manning on the first play of his first NFL game.

2 Jags in the secondary…they have played against Manning twice a year. so Middleton and Cox should be comfortable playing against the Donks.

Yes. Because the Jaguars have a history of success against Peyton Manning and the Colts.
