Texans taking a look at Joe Mays

Quarterback Matt Schaub may not have to worry about losing a piece of his ear to linebacker Joe Mays in 2013.  Unless Mays decides to blast Schaub in practice.

The Texans are bringing the former Broncos linebacker in for a tryout, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

As McClain explains, the Texans need depth at inside linebacker.  And, coincidentally, Mays needs a job.

Cut last week with a $4 million base salary, Mays has visited the Redskins.

I like…the Texans def need depth at LB. Last year, that was their downfall down the stretch after Cushing, Sharpton, and Dobbins were all lost.

Mays is absolutely awful versus the pass and terrible at tackling.

Guy gets some great kill shots but he gets a lot of whiffs, too.

If you can’t make the Redskins then it’s pretty obvious that you have nothing left.

It makes sense for the team but may be awkward between Mays and some of the offensive guys

The Skins should be able to give him 50,000 for the year.

Maybe he can return Schaub’s ear lobe as a gift.
