Eagles have another torn ACL in camp

Carolina Panthers v Pittsburgh Steelers Getty Images

The Eagles have lost their second player for the season, in the first week of training camp.

According to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News, the Eagles confirmed that linebacker Jason Phillips suffered a torn right ACL.

Phillips, signed from Carolina this offseason as a free agent, was carted off during this morning’s practice.

He joins wide receiver Jeremy Maclin on the out-for-the-year list, making the Eagles the unluckiest team in the league so far.

Chip Kelly’s fast paced system is obviously too much for this roster…

Wow every time we hav a good team bad things happen sad

  3. icdogg says: Jul 29, 2013 5:49 PM

Sheesh. And they haven’t even started tackling yet.

The strength and conditioning coach in Philly should be opening his locker real cautiously.

  5. larrydavid7000 says: Jul 29, 2013 5:53 PM

Chipper this isn’t college ball where you have 100 players on the team and can say next player up. Way to run this team into the ground.

Wow If this keeps going on in the league, we might have to import players from CFL……

  8. unclemoobaa1911 says: Jul 29, 2013 5:59 PM

Phillips was be counted on for special teams more than anything, but you still don’t want to see a guy get hurt.

    LOL!!!

  11. unbiasfan says: Jul 29, 2013 6:02 PM

Even if every defensive player on the Eagles got torn ACL’s, they would still be better than the Packer’s defense

  12. dallascowboysdishingthereal says: Jul 29, 2013 6:05 PM

So Chip, how’s that fast paced practice workin’ out for you in the NFL?

  13. youarejealousof6rings says: Jul 29, 2013 6:09 PM

Meanwhile, the only team in Penn worth talking about is getting better (if that’s possible).

  14. unbiasfan says: Jul 29, 2013 6:10 PM

Isn’t it ironic that the most injury prone player on that team hasn’t been injured yet… (Michael Vick)

These eagles torn acls are a result from spinning around too fast to watch the Washington Redskins unstoppable train to go racing on by. I’m sure there are more to come.

  19. harrisonhits2 says: Jul 29, 2013 6:22 PM

    @therealraider,

Maybe they’re still using the Andy Reid conditioning system lol, his teams always had horrible stamina at the end of games.

    @yourejealousofnothing,

Real classy going into multiple injury threads and laughing about the injuries. How pathetic and tiny of you. Would expect nothing less from a big fan of the rapist.

Enjoy another 8-8 year and no playoffs again.

Look at all the haters and over reacting going on. Calm down people. Jason Phillips was always a non-factor and Maclin can be replaced (See: Damarious Johnson, Jason Avant). Calm down people let the season begin so we can laugh at all these people that think they know the eagles and football in general. The trolls that flood our articles more then our fans think were going to lose? ok… So worried lol

  22. bandzz says: Jul 29, 2013 6:29 PM

Didn’t the NFL just implement new pads and equipment?? All these fines they keep charging you’d think some of that was being reinvested into better protective gear. SMH

It’s just so much more funny when an Eagles player says it.

  27. respectgsh says: Jul 29, 2013 6:41 PM

    @ bobonmycob
Not a hater but, the Maclin injury is something about which to be concerned. The fact remains the 2013 Eagles are an unknown, so anyone pretends to have certainty about the shape their season will take (I don’t mean you) is just blowing hot air.

  28. swaggyy says: Jul 29, 2013 6:44 PM

ACLs tear way too often and too easily. There has got to be some technology to strengthen these badly designed human parts. Geez

  29. rick1k6 says: Jul 29, 2013 6:51 PM

If they keep losing players at this rate, McNabb may have his retirement postponed. Donovan, put the chunky soup down and pick up your helmet.

Hate to see people get hurt, glad to see how many disgusting people are on here bagging on guys getting hurt. And I had no idea how obnoxious redskins fans are, I guess sucking for however many years they were bottom of the barrel consecutively will hide a lot of scum

  34. richdaddy1231 says: Jul 29, 2013 6:59 PM

Might want to get the picture right cuz none of the teams pictured are of the eagles

  35. bobonmycob says: Jul 29, 2013 7:04 PM

    @respectgsh

Yes, nobody knows how the season will turn out to be. But were not talking about our only QB being injured, our only RB being injured, etc.. We are talking about a WR that we barely had last season due to injury. We have a lot of promising young talent @ WR. Damarious Johnson is an up and coming stud. If anything it gives somebody else a chance to excel. Look at the glass as half full not half empty ;)

Dude you can get as strong as an ox, but when an ACL want to go it goes, it isnt a muscle and it doesn’t grow back

  38. drunkadamschefter says: Jul 29, 2013 7:30 PM

Eagles might as well tank for Bridgewater/Boyd.

  39. ambitoos says: Jul 29, 2013 7:31 PM

Two linebackers with ACL gone. Same with the Chargers.

  40. st0n3r78 says: Jul 29, 2013 7:36 PM

Man, there really are some seriously dumb folks posting here. You do know that Chip’s fast pace is for the OFFENSE right? I mean his DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR is the man who makes the defensive scheme, tempo etc., so blaming Chip really makes you look stupid. Yes, he is the head-coach but you dont bring in coordinators to second guess their plans. While injuries suck, Maclin hasnt lived up to his hype by any means (always getting hurt, going down to avoid contact and has low YAC), and this LB isnt much of a loss either. He would likely be 2nd string or simply special teams if he made the final roster.

Redskins fans obnoxious? Seriously? Because our current attitude has nothing to do with the fact that any thread concerning our team is flooded with people making jokes about Robert Griffin’s injury. IRG3, RGKnee. Right, we’re the obnoxious ones. Everyone is BEGGING this kid gets injured this upcoming season. And yet none of them are obnoxious, just the Skins fans giving the rest of you sorry excuses for football fans a taste of your own medicine.

  46. therealtrenches says: Jul 29, 2013 9:28 PM

The idea that these injuries are the result of Kelly’s fast paced practices is laughable.

The gloating on here by ‘skins and steelers fans is disgusting.

  48. robatk913 says: Jul 29, 2013 9:47 PM

Stop with the stupid comments…shi…happens. Guaranteeded you will see other ACLs/MCLs in other training camps before the presason is over. Its the nature of the beast. Better now than later so you can develop your backup.

  49. darkneptune73 says: Jul 29, 2013 10:04 PM

I’m not kidding, this ACL injury is like the 300th coming of the bubonic plague.

  50. indyeaglesfreak says: Jul 29, 2013 11:10 PM

This has nothing to do with our conditioning or the fast paced practice. Anyone can get hurt at any time if they don’t prepare themselves correctly. It’s terrible to see two of our guys go down in week 1 of camp! It’s feeling like last year all over again! Smh oh well time to soldier on! FLY EAGLES FLY

  51. mrb1000 says: Jul 30, 2013 3:13 AM

what a bunch of cry babies! thing happen to the good and bad! it is how a team respond to adversity! people will get hurt in any sport! how a team pulls together is what matters!

  52. sidepull says: Jul 30, 2013 4:26 AM

Eagles fans are the epitome of the sore loser, big mouth, low life, classless, whiner fan. Give me a break while your looking for sympathy. None here. Its just football. Don’t bother making room for a Lombardi. The Dream Team Dynasty or whatever you want to call yourselves isn’t getting one. And btw if for some lucky reason the stars align and you happen to find your team in contention for a Lombardi, you self righteous fans will be the first to whip out the Dream team Dynasty bs. Deal with it whiners we didn’t make it up your players did!

While I don’t wish any player to be injured, the fact that the Filthydelphia Iggles are getting hit with injuries does not make a good day bad. It just makes me smile.
