Hopkins is getting “the look” from Andre Johnson

At one point in the weeks preceding the draft, receiver DeAndre Hopkins was the subject of an apparent smear campaign regarding a substance that allegedly was smeared at the Indianapolis hotel room he shared with receiver Mark Harrison for the Scouting Combine.

Hopkins still went in round one, landing with a team that already has one of the best receivers in the league.  And the rookie explained that Andre Johnson has been mentoring Hopkins not with words but with a certain facial expression.

“He really doesn’t say too much to me, but he gives me that look sometimes when I do something wrong,” Hopkins told reporters on Monday.  “I kind of know I didn’t do my assignment.  He just kind of gives me that look like, ‘You could have did better.’”

(Johnson also may be giving him “the look” right now for saying “did” instead of “done.”)

The Texans have been trying for years to find a capable complement to Johnson.  Now that he’s getting toward the end of his career, Houston has tried via round one to find a guy who will be a strong No. 2 (I didn’t intend that to be a reference to the first paragraph of this blurb, but I’ll take it) for now, and who could be Johnson’s successor, eventually.

Smart move by the Texans drafting this immature but very talented WR and let Andre mentoring him.

If Andre Johnson is mentoring him, Shouldn’t his name be “Re-Andre”

Hopkins will be a great receiver, probably the best of the 2013 draft. The fact that he can learn from Johnson will only help.

Hopkins will always be remembered as the #2 Receiver

If giving stares is the equivalent of good mentoring, Art Shell must be the greatest coach of all time.

Johnson gave him a look like he just crapped on the floor or something.

Because the most important thing Johnson can teach Hopkins is proper grammar… which is unrelated to football COMPLETELY.

Well its fine and dandy that Andre gives him the “look” but how about actually talking to the kid and mentoring him? Surely he must realize if Hopkins can produce on the field that it actually helps Andre out a ton and makes defenses more honest.

LOL, I saw the did/done error and you called it out in the following parenthesis. A common mistake, but an unnecessary one. My mother was very tough on us when it came to English, but all mothers don’t harp on the same things. Let’s hope that next time he do better – DOES better. lol

    English as a second language?

His first should be reading defensive schemes!

anyone would get that look if they redecorated the walls by spelling your name in poop crayons.

To the low IQ commenters, the correcting of English is an Analogy. In other words Dre is making sure he does EVERYTHING right. Don’t worry idiots; they’re focusing on football. Lol.

“Nuk do it all right”. Running routes, read defenses, catch the ball, run after the catch, make moves off the line, warm up before practice, stretch the legs right, workout during the week, handle yourself on and off the field, celebrating in the endzone, playing against certain DBS, social media, game day preparation, pre and post game interviews, etc.

Andre’s got it. Stop yappin with “why’s he teaching English”
