Jeff Saturday not expect to leave retirement

With so many of Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning’s centers going down, it was natural to wonder if his old one was coming back.

But it’s apparently not going to be Jeff Saturday.

According to Saturday’s ESPN co-worker Ed Werder, the longtime Colts center isn’t interested in making a comeback, and has already dropped to the 230-240-pound range since retiring.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network talked to Saturday’s agent, who deemed it “possible, not likely.” The possible part likely stems from good agents never closing the door on a potential stream of income, and the not likely part from the overall lack of 230-pound centers in the NFL.

The Broncos have lost J.D. Walton and Dan Koppen to injuries already, and signed journeyman Steve Vallos yesterday.

They’ll probably continue to look for depth in the middle, but they won’t be looking to the TV studio.
